Safe feed for safe food
Data on foodborne disease outbreaks suggest that animal products are often associated with foodborne Salmonella infections.
Despite attempts to control foodborne pathogens in slaughter houses and processing plants, a significant number of carcasses, meat products and eggs are still contaminated by pathogenic microorganisms such as Salmonella. A sustainable strategy to reduce these Salmonella positive foodstuffs is to tackle this pathogen early in the food chain.
